Obama won the 2012 election by about five million votes. Democratic candidates for the House of Representatives received about a million move votes than their Republican opponents, but because of gerrymanders did not win a majority in the House. The partisan Supreme Court lifted limits on campaign spending (corporations are people) and said gerrymandering was legal, resulting in a skewed and undemocratic election process.
Now we have a minority party in the House, funded by right-wing PACS, holding America hostage by threatening to shut down the federal government.
In a democracy, the majority rules. We no longer have a democracy. Listening to Ted Cruz and his ilk, it is obvious that we have a major political party under the sway of fanatics. They are destroying our country more efficiently than any Muslim terrorist group could ever hope to.
