Another epidemic

NBC news tonight reported 185 deaths in the U.S. so far from the coronavirus.  I do not want to minimize that, and I worry that the number will increase way beyond that, but I also would point out that in 2017 (the last year the CDC reported this) the U.S. had approximately 15,000 deaths from guns.  If we include suicides by firearms, the number was more than twice that.  That is also an epidemic that should concern us.

  1. Totally agree. Here in Illinois the gun stores are doing a booming business because of the virus. People are in a real panic and they fear someone will come for their toilet paper, I guess. We were down to our last two rolls and I went out for three straight days before I finally got some. I only got it because an employee at Costco told me to be there a half hour before opening. The line was long. He said it goes fast.

  2. And we don't even have Sears Roebuck catalogs any more.
