White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Tuesday morning that Amazon was being “hostile and political.” This was after a report from Punchbowl News that Amazon was planning to display the extra cost from the tariffs on its products.
Trump was angry. He doesn’t want the American people to see how much more they will be paying because of his tariffs. So he called Bezos. And Bezos...are you ready for this...caved.
And Trump then said, “Jeff Bezos is very nice. He solved the problem very quickly. He did the right thing. Good guy.”
My take on this is slightly different.

On the one hand, Bezos is chickenshit, excuse my language.
ReplyDeleteOn the other, huh. I guess wealth =/= power, like I'd long assumed about American politics. Because if one of the wealthiest people in the world can't do just whatever the hell he feels like, then what good is having all that money if you don't have the power to tell someone trying to force you to do something to just go to hell?
