The Dow

Last week the Dow passed the 14,000 mark.  We are getting close to the all-time record.  And here is the headline at the top right page one of today’s Times.

RECOVERY IN U.S. LIFTING PROFITS, NOT ADDING JOBS

A Gulf is Widening as Federal Budget Cuts Take Effect

The Republicans in Congress are wrecking this country.  What amazes me is that they seem to be proud of what they are doing.

  1. Here in Illinois we have ads being run for companies here to relocate in Florida. The chief spokesperson is Wayne Huizenga. He is a billionaire who says in an ad "It's not what you make it's what you keep", he also says "In Florida there are no state income taxes, it doesn't get any better than that".

These statements are typical of the rich in this country. It is not about doing what is good for the country, it is about what is best for yourself, I got mine, I don't care about the 47%. Romney is still in denial about losing to President Obama. Mr Romney is the typical rich person in this country. It's all a game for the rich--a way to keep score I guess.

  2. The disconnect between Wall Street and Main Street is a huge problem in America today. In 1950's, when Wall Street did well so did Main Street. The corporate philosphy was much different back then. They valued their work force. In fact, They needed a work force and hence the middle class.

If we don't link Wall Street wealth to middle class wealth, we will have an Oligarchs.

  3. Thanks for the comment. Just keep writing about the unfairness and inequality in America because very few are.

Remember, this is the life we chose to make.
