It is important that you not give up

I’ve seen commentary that quite a few people are retreating into their own private lives.  I have felt the urge to do that myself.  During the first Trump administration there were all kinds of protests against his Muslim ban, protests by women, protests by American Indians.  We had not lost hope.  We knew that a majority of Americans had voted against him in 2016, and he won only because of the arcane Electoral College.

Now we see that a plurality of Americans actually supported this would-be dictator.  We see the government staffed with incompetent clowns, and we realize that the Supreme Court, the Senate, and the House are filled with his lackeys.  We see that business leaders welcome the tax cuts, and we don’t even have many media sources on our side.  The easy thing would be to turn inward, to give up, to surrender.

Don’t.  It is not to late to turn this around.  Work at it.  It isn’t over.  Do not give up.  Resistance to evil is often difficult, but it is necessary.
