Mowing Grass in December

Today was the first time I mowed grass in December.  I’m the groundskeeper for a one-room school museum located next to our house.  Usually I’m done mowing by October, but this year there were patches of grass that remained green and were taller than the surrounding grass.  I thought the lawn should be uniform when next April rolls around, so I ran the mower.

Yesterday the New York Times ran an article detailing the views of about a dozen Trump appointees on global warming.  It wasn’t real.  It was real but not as bad as scientists say.  It was real, but it wasn’t caused by humans.  It might be real, but it was more important for the economy to use more oil and coal.

You sometimes hear people say the planet is doomed.  No, the planet itself is not doomed.  It will keep right on spinning around the sun, as Galileo said it did.
