One of the oddest things I’ve seen is environmental groups opposing solar panels on vacant lots or farms. I’ve heard it will result in impervious surfaces. No, you can have grass under the panels and it will soak up rain. I’ve heard it is esthetically displeasing. Not as much as a housing development which might go in if a farmer is not allowed to make money on his solar panels. I heard they have bad chemicals. When the panels no longer work, they are removed.
I will agree that we should not cut down forests to put up solar panels. But when a farmer wishes to rent out a field for a solar panel array, that is far better than the 20 houses that have gone in on the fields less than half a mile from our farm in Norm Strohl’s old fields. Now that is an environmental disaster on a number of levels.
