World Wide Sickness

It is obvious that democracy is in decline around the world.  The few bright spots (South Koreans successfully demonstrating against martial law, the Assad family kicked out of Syria, Kenyans demonstrating against the murders of women, Australia banning “social” media use among children, the Ukrainians continuing their battle for freedom), are overshadowed by developments in the rest of the globe.

“Strong men” have taken over in Argentina, India, Russia, Turkey, the U.S., Hungary, Tunisia, China, and Italy, although the one in Italy is a “strong woman.”  Rightist or nationalist or anti-immigrant parties are gaining in Germany, France, Romania, Indonesia, Netherlands, and Sweden.  Religious fundamentalists are gaining strength in Israel, Iran, India, Tunisia, and much of the America south.

What you must remember is that just as quickly as these disturbing developments are occurring, events can turn quickly.  Remember what happened in Syria.  While we don’t know the final outcome, we do know that the Assad family, which ruled for 50 years by terror and violence aided by Russian support, fell apart in a ten-day period.

It is not only pandemics that can spread quickly.  Keep the faith.  Join the resistance.

P.S.  Hi Kash.  Just add this post to my existing F.B.I. file.

  1. Roy, do you remember me from California Writers Club and caupdate.com? The purpose of my test book is to suggest improvement in the Constitution to make it more appropriate and effective for modern times and ,masker the abuses and misinterpretations we are seeing more difficult and top better protect our freedoms and democracy. From your writingI I gather that our goals are the same or very similar. My first step is to call public attention that we, THE PEOPLE, can improve these by holding a national Constitutional Convention absent political party officers, politicians and big money. I am hoping to find 2-3 three representatives from each state and one from each territory to attend in person or virtually (as a last resort). My preference would be political science and constitutional experts with open minds who have read the book, have ideas about it or better ideas to achieve these goals and retire the balance of power and more oversight and power to the people to prevent recurrences of the chaos we are foreseeing he and abroad because of Project 2025. If you are interested in pursuing these ideas please drop me a line, Thanks,

    1. I do remember you. I am sorry to disappoint you, but I am simply not energetic enough and optimistic enough and young enough to work on a project of that magnitude. I am sorry to disappoint you.
