Dear Senator McCormick:
Our Founding Fathers meeting in Philadelphia in 1787 feared concentrated power and wrote a Constitution that divided national power into three branches. That separation of powers created a system of “checks and balances.” It has worked well for almost 250 years. Now we are seeing its erosion in less than a month.
You are a member of Congress. Congress is charged with making the laws. Not the Supreme Court and certainly not the President. You are elected independently of the President. You don’t take orders from the President. He can’t fire you. You have nothing to fear. Speak out. I know you are a Republican, but you are first a citizen and a U.S. Senator.
The acts that are coming out of this White House, the activities of Elon Musk, the incompetent appointments, the attempt to stifle news organizations, the parade of executive orders, the efforts to exact retribution on “enemies,” a foreign policy that talks about Canadian statehood and seizing the Panama Canal–this has to stop.
Please be a profile in courage. Please speak up.
He won't speak up. Congress right now is the Roman Senate
