Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory

At the Nevada Democratic Party convention on Saturday, Sanders supporters booed, threw chairs, and even threatened the grandchildren of the Nevada State Democratic chairwoman.  The Sanders delegates thought Sanders should get an equal number of Nevada delegates, even though Clinton had won the Nevada caucuses.

Today the Times ran a front page article about the anger of unions at environmentalists who are doing their best to block pipelines.  Labor unions and environmentalists have always been among the largest of the Democratic support groups.

Come next January, I wonder if the labor union leadership and the Nevada Sanders delegates will have second thoughts when they watch Trump deliver his inaugural address.

  1. Roy, on economic issues she's not even a democrat. Why should anyone vote for her? Because she's on the ballot with a D behind her name? I think not. Trump is wrong on many, many things, so don't take this as support for him. Clinton is a terrible general election candidate. Independents hate her and she'll be missing a sizeable slice of the democratic base since she is playing the entire nominating process incorrectly. Whether or not she's corrupt, she appears to be corrupt and that is not someone that will get my vote.

If the democratic party apparatus crams her down the voters throats, then she will lose the general election. Maybe, just maybe, if she loses, the democratic party will get some of the house cleaning that it desperately needs...from top to bottom.

  2. I'm a Bernie supporter, but there's no way I'd do anything that would help Trump get elected, and if Clinton is the nominee, she gets my vote. Democrats have to think about the three Supreme Court justices that the next president would be appointing. Trump has already given out his list and it's horrifying what those justices could do to this country. Roe v. Wade: gone. Affordable Care Act: gone. Voting rights for anyone: gone. I beg all Democrats to vote for the next SCOTUS, if not for the President they really want.

  3. Debbie, perhaps the party should have thought through what they were doing before pushing a corporate shill down the voters throats.
