Absentee ballots

The Pennsylvania legislature really doesn’t want people to vote.  I was one of four volunteers canvassing in Lehighton to help elderly voters fill out applications for an absentee ballot.  The people we visited were either elderly or had a physical disability.

At the very top of the application is the following statement:  “A separate absentee ballot application must be submitted to your county board of elections for each primary or election.”

Why?

Why are people on oxygen, who are blind, or who can’t walk forced to fill out a form for each election?  Why must they list their doctor, his or her address, his or her phone number?  Why doesn’t our state representative Doyle Heffley introduce a bill to change this stupid law?
